WNBA Outings: Season recap
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our WNBA Outings this season!
We were able to cheer on the Chicago Sky together at five games this season with our mentors and mentees - and we loved every minute of it. A huge shout out to our Recruitment Coordinator, Tykisha, for securing these tickets, and to the WNBA for donating them to Safe Families PLUS.

We are hosting a Fall Movie Night for mentors and mentees on October 18th. Get ready for a fall movie, popcorn, snacks, mini pumpkins to paint, and good company.

mentor support group
Please join us for our virtual Mentor Support Group on September 29 at 6pm. This will be a space for mentors to share and connect with one another about their mentoring experiences, challenges, and successes. We hope to see you there!
Our virtual Mentor Support Groups are held on the last Tuesday of every month at 6:00pm. Whether you are an experienced mentor or onboarding to become one, we would love to have you join. Please contact kende@safefamilies.net with any questions.

MENTOR Maryland DC is providing a free virtual training: How to Be an Askable Adult: Thursday, October 1, 11:00am-12:30pm CST.
About this training: "Young people want approachable adults they can turn to for help navigating stress and challenges. In this session, participants will learn how to become an askable, trusted adult for young people in your life."

developmental relationships framework
Another free training provided by MENTOR Maryland DC is on Developmental Relationship Framework: Tuesday, October 27, 10-11:30am CST.
About this training: "Developmental relationships are close connections through which young people discover who they are, cultivate abilities to shape their own lives, and learn how to engage with and contribute to the world around them. In this session, participants will learn the details of Search Institute's Developmental Relationship Framework and the efforts that are proven to catalyze young people's lives."

accessing a car: workshop for mentees
We wanted to pass along Silver Lining Mentoring's free, virtual workshop: Accessing a Car, for young adults ages 18-26 who have foster care experience. This workshop will include information including navigating car dealerships, auto loans, financing/budgeting, exploring resources, and more. If this is something your mentee may be interested in, please encourage them to sign up! There will be opportunities to win gift card as well.
This training is at 5:30PM CST Tuesday Sept. 29 (6:30 EST).
